As the school year is winding down, our district is hard at work preparing our students for the upcoming Ohio State Tests. Each building has intervention going on to help students to improve their test scores. This coming May our district will have a permanent improvement levy on the ballot. This levy will be a five year levy, not like the one in the fall which was permanent. As we have stated, this levy can only be used for purchases of buses, improve technology, improve the buildings and faciilties and safety for example. This levy cannot be used for salaries or benefits. We hope that you will support this levy as it is necessary for our district to conitnue to maintain our properties and improve our bus fleet. We currently have over four buses with well over 200,000 miles. If you have any questions concerning the levy, please feel free to contact me here at the district office so we can discuss the need for the levy.
There is a lot of questions about the solar projects coming into our district. There are no signed contracts at this time and no guarantees they will follow through on their end. If these contracts come to fruition, it will be several years before the district receives any benefits from these projects. This levy is important to us as it is only five years in length and as you can see with no guarantees with the solar projects how important this levy is to our district.
Principals in the next couple of months will be working on scheduling and staffing for the 2019-2020 school year. We are very excited where our district is at this point in time, but know we still have a lot of work to do. With the support of our community, we can continue to take the Bright Local School District forward. We thank you for your support.
For more information, please go to the district website (www.blsd.us) or call 442-3114.
We want to emphasize that this is your district and our door is always open for you. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to call us here at Bright Local Schools.
