Guidelines

Bright Local Schools - School Reopening Safety Guidelines

We are all looking forward to the re-opening of our schools.  As we plan for the opening of school, we must recognize the COVID-19 virus is still a threat to the safety and welfare of our staff and students.  We all must be vigilant in our approach to ensuring the safety of all our stakeholders as a result the following principles will guide our district as we move forward with opening our schools:

  1. Safety protocols will be implemented at each of our buildings.

  2. We will be working closely with the Highland County Health Department in promoting safety measures in each of our buildings.

  3. Students should monitor their own temperatures and their health on a daily basis before coming to school.

  4. Our district will be transparent with all stakeholders that some level of risk will always be present when children and school district employees occupy school district facilities.

  5. We are planning to maintain our previously approved school calendars with some possible front loading of employee professional development.

  6. Reopening guidelines are subject to change due to possible updates from the Highland County Health Department and the State of Ohio.

PreK letter

Preschool Letter to Parents - July 2020

Dear Parent(s),

As Bright Local prepares to welcome your preschool child, we want you to know we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of your child. The COVID-19 pandemic can be scary and is hard for children to understand. We want to create an environment where you feel safe sending your child and where your child feels safe. Based on Ohio Department of Education (ODE) preschool rules and recommendations, you and your child will see changes to our program. Some of those changes are outlined below.

PreK

Preschool Update

Class lists ---- We are working on the Bright Preschool class lists for 2020-21, but one change will be our sessions will switch to Mondays & Tuesdays and Thursdays & Fridays. Students will not attend preschool on Wednesdays at Bright this year due to planning and cleaning.
Daily

Recommended Daily Schedule

Each child has received a learning packet. The goal of the packets is to continue learning while the school is closed. Teachers provide a lot of ways to extend and support each child’s needs on an individual basis which we cannot replicate during an event such as this. Creating a daily routine during this closure will be very beneficial for your student. Below is one possible schedule.  We know that each family's needs are different, so we encourage you to consider a schedule/routine that will work best for your family.
