Our goal for the reward of the 5K Walk/Run was 55% breakfast participation for the month of March.  We exceeded our goal with 60 % participation.  The walk will take place on May 5, 2017 (more details will be given next week). 

Whiteoak Breakfast Bonanza KI

Next week, starting Monday, April 24th, we are having a Breakfast Bonanza Week at the Whiteoak Jr./Sr. High School!  We will be drawing for 2 Kings Island tickets to go to ONE winner.  On Friday, we will have a free breakfast for all students.  Any student eating all five days during the week of April 24th thru April 28th will go into the drawing for the Kings Island tickets. 

The drawing will take place on Monday May 1, 2017.

Whiteoak Blood Drive Blood

The Whiteoak Blood Drive will take place Thursday, April 27, 2017 8:15-10:30am and 12:00-2:00pm.  The Donor Bus will be parked between buildings.  To schedule your appointment, see Mrs. Dietz, (937) 442-2241 x11101.  

Whiteoak Cheerleading Tryouts 2017 cheer

The Whiteoak High School and Junior High Cheerleading tryouts will take place on Thursday, April 27th.  There will be two tryout clinic days on Wednesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 27th from 7:30-9:00pm.  All students wanting to tryout for the squads must be present at both cheer clinic nights and the actual tryouts will take place on April 27th following the cheer clinic.  Originally the tryouts were going to take place on Monday, May 1st, but due to scheduling conflicts with other sports and extracurricular activities, the dates have been changed.

Whiteoak Prom 2017 & Grand March - The Prom will be held at the Embassy Suites in Covington, KY. The Grand March will begin at 5:30pm at Whiteoak High School. Pictures can be purchased and will be taken at the Grand March and Prom.

College and Career Palooza

Hillsboro High/Middle School is holding a College and Career Palooza. Doors open at 5:45 PM on March 29, 2017. Opening remarks will begin at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. Closing remarks and prize drawings will begin at 7:45 PM in the cafeteria. This event will feature a variety of sessions to inform students and parents about topics related to college and career readiness. HHS and HMS have partnered with local professionals who will present the information in break out sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to choose which sessions they will attend.

Kindergarten Registration at Bright Elementary Kindergarten

Bright Local School District is announcing their Kindergarten Registration process for 2017.  Parents/Guardians are requested to complete paperwork and schedule a screening time.  A Kindergarten packet and scheduling can be completed on any school day from March 20th to March 31st  between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM at the Bright Elementary School office.

Bright Elementary Breakfast Kick-Off Breakfast

A Breakfast Kick-Off at the Bright Elementary will offer a Free Breakfast to All Students on March 1, 2017  Eating Breakfast is a Great Start to Your Day.  There will be free Prizes and Participants will be Entered to Win a Free Bicycle.

If we reach our goal of 55% eating breakfast for the month of March, students will be rewarded with a 5K Walk/Run.

Whiteoak High School Homecoming 2017 Winter

This Friday, January 27, 2017, is the Whiteoak High School Homecoming Game.  The Wildcats will host the West Union High School Dragons with the JV game starting at 6pm.  Between games the Homecoming Crowning Ceremony will take place.

College Credit Plus (CCP) MANDATORY Information Night CCP

There will be an mandatory informational CCP night held on Jan. 17th at 6pm in the band room.  This is open to any current 6th-11th grader that is interested in participating in College Credit Plus for next school year.

The Mobile Dentists are coming to the Elementary on Monday, February 27 and to Whiteoak on Tuesday, February 28.

The Bright Elementary 2016-2017 yearbooks are still on sale.  Orders will be accepted until the last day of school.  Elementary yearbooks are $15 and will arrive in August.

Math-a-Thon Math-a-Thon

Several students from Bright Elementary participated in the St. Jude's Math-a-Thon during the month of October.  St. Jude's is a children's research hospital that specializes in the treatment of children with cancer.  All patients at St. Jude's are given treatments, regardless of their ability to pay.  They raise money by having students participate in a Math-a-Thon in which they work math problems for donations from friends and family.

Congratulations to Lexi Jones and Katelyn Everhart. They are the winners of the WRITE IN RED ESSAY.  Both students won 100 dollars each.

High School Makeup Tests Schedule

High school students need to pass exams in the core areas under the state graduation requirements.  Students that received a 1 or 2 on a previous test will be retested during the December makeup testing window.

On Nov. 9, agricultural business students from the Fairfield, Hillsboro, Lynchburg-Clay and Whiteoak FFA chapters practiced real-life situations during the Agricultural Reality store.

Bright Local Schools superintendent Ted Downing has announced the addition of two new administrators in the school district, with Brian Ruckel joining Whiteoak High School this fall as principal and Randy Drewyor being named district treasurer.
